Aaron and I have had the privilege of serving at our church's 2 Hispanic campuses. We began attending the Indiana Hispanic campus nearly a year ago and have really grown to love it there! We began just attending the service. We thought it would help our language learning and culture learning. Near the end of summer, we began working with the kids there. We taught Bible stories and loved on the preschoolers and elementary aged kids during the worship service. Back in late fall, Aaron began working with a couple of the teen boys during worship, teaching them the Bible. I was amazed to learn that they had never even heard of Daniel and The Lion's Den. In January or so, I began working with two teen girls, also teaching them the Bible and hanging out with them. We love them!
In February of this year, we began attending the Fegenbush Hispanic campus on Sunday mornings. Aaron is currently teaching one of the youth boys during worship. I am ready to teach if needed. Since there are no youth aged girls for me to teach right now, I sit through the entire service, trying my best to keep up with what is being said. I normally have NO clue as to what is going on, as was the case last week when I didn't participate in communion! I was more than a little confused about when to go down so I sat there with my head bowed, realizing that every body knows I can't speak Spanish - nor understand it! Aaron and I had a laugh with the pastor afterward, as they were joking about my reasons for not taking communion!
I say all this to say: We Love Hispanics and are blessed to be able to work with and among them each week!
Now if I could only learn to be as laid back and easy going as they are .... :)
